Rick Baril is a partner with Robert von Hagge and Mike Smelek in an international golf design business that spans the globe and is responsible for work on more than 200 courses. Some of their most celebrated courses are in Europe, and Baril has personally worked on fine layouts like Les Bordes, Seignosse, Le Kempferhof and Le Golf National in France, Circolo Golf Bogogno and Is Arenas in Italy and Emporda in Spain.

The company generally does good work, but they have had their issues with things like unnatural shaping and excessive mounding at places like Buenos Aires GC, Le Golf National and parts of the back nine at Les Bordes.
